If something is abused by our society or culture, should we as Christians avoid that thing completely, or should we show an example of the proper use? If we ought to avoid the thing completely then I suppose Christians should start giving up marriage and sex along with alcohol.
Or perhaps we should follow the same advice Paul gave to Timothy:
Boy, are you fired up or what?!! Your passion to defend your liberty makes me think thou dost protest too much. You seem to proudly chide the weaker brother, rather than love him. If you heard a christian speaking of the joy of wealth as much as you (made a web site extolling the virtues of beer) do beer, I think you might accuse that wealthy christian of the love of money or being greedy. I can see by your several blogs that Christ is extremely important to you. Granted that all your theology may be correct and that you have not succumbed to drunkeness---wouldn't you much rather spend your efforts in advancing the love of God than the love of beer. Has this beer issue taken your focus aside to a what should be minor issue and raising it to the level of infallability of Scripture, diety of Christ, salvation... Are you becoming one of the legalists on behalf of drinking? Careful. Love your brothers. Enjoy your beer like a good football game or a $500 bonus from the boss. Seems like you are taking all this personally and reacting and calling it the fight for Biblical freedom while it's looking like pride and maybe really about self justification. Pray for your brothers. Love them. Tell the truth about alcohol to unbelievers when it becomes an issue, but the issue of Christ and His love for the lost is always a greater issue to focus on. "Who are you to criticize the servent of another?" God can deal with the nuances of well-intentioned error. He may use you, but jeez, chill out and refocus.
